Bollywood released three movies on Friday January 25, 2013, the start of a three day long Id and Republic Day holiday weekend in India. They include 'Race 2', 'Aakash Vani' and 'Main Krishna Hoon'; the latter two being lesser films in budget and marketing hoopla. The much-hyped and mega-budget 'Race 2' is not really a sequel to the 2008 hit film 'Race', but the film dazzles with its stunts, damsels and thrilling action. Directed by the acclaimed duo Abbas-Mustan, 'Race 2' is 2013's first multi-starrer and a treat for action-packed thriller seekers. Actress Bipasha Basu reprises her role of Sonia in a special appearance in the film. While Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan play their roles as Robert D`Costa and Ranveer Singh respectively from the previous film, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel are new additions to the cast.

John replaces Akshay Khanna and aptly because 'Race 2' script needed a strong bodied actor for tough fighting sequences. 'Race 2' producers and cast must be credited for creating a good marketing spread with various brands to ride the movie's promotion wave and also multiple media properties to propel the marketing plans. 'Race 2' was all over the place - print, television, OOH, social and digital platforms. Through these associations, the movie's marketing team ran contests for higher audience engagement. Audi India, Metro shoes, Sunsilk, Amul Macho, Tanishq and Van Heusen connected their brands to the theme of the movie. 'Race 2' integrated with TechZone to bring the movie on mobile. Tips music tied up with TechZone for CRBT and WAP services so consumers could access the movie's soundtracks 'Party on my mind', 'Lat lag gai' and 'Be Intehaa'.

The Facebook page had something new from the movie everyday that boosted the number of active visitors to the Facebook page searching for exclusive content over the web. The cast made numerous TV appearances to drive audiences to theaters. Hopefully, it will pay off! As such, the movie is all about revenge. It has plenty of stylized men and seductive women who play lusty cheats and betrayers. It took Abbas-Mustan five years since the prequel in 2008 to come up with 'Race 2'. In the movie, Ranveer played by Saif Ali Khan and Sonia by Bipasha Basu have lived a full life. But, Sonia is suddenly and mysteriously killed. Ranveer vows to find the killer with the help of his old friend Robert D'Costa played by veteran actor Anil Kapoor and his secretary Cherry played by Ameesha Patel. Robert D'Costa has left his job as a cop and now leads a happy life as a club-owner, but always willing to make more money. Ranveer lands up in Istanbul where the Indian mafia is run by Armaan Malik played by John Abraham and his step sister Elena played by Deepika Padukone.

Multi-millionaire Armaan loves nothing more than money, but has his own revenge story to tell. Ranveer trains his guns on Armaan, his girlfriend's killer. Ranveer meets Elena, who realizes that Armaan wants to kill her for money. She beds Saif and sides with him. Enters another hottie Jacqueline Fernandes, Armaan's loyal girlfriend, who cheats Ranveer by trying to pass off as Ranveer's late girlfriend Sonia's sister. 'Race 2' has tons of action sequences, bold stunts, a host of dreadful fights, and amazing cars racing and exploding. The cast's performances are superb. John and Saif leave no stone unturned in playing their characters brilliantly. Anil Kapoor acts funny as Robert D'Costa with his jokes and eating fruits. It's another matter that his jokes with his pretty secretary have double meanings. Deepika Padukone looks stunningly beautiful in her many avatars with so many bold and lovely outfits. Jacqueline Fernandez is gorgeous too; she performs her role too well. She isn't far behind in looking as beautiful as Deepika. The credit for a bold and stunt-full movie goes to director duo Abbas Mustan. Cinematography by Ravi Yadav is excellent, especially of exotic overseas locales. Preetam's music is extraordinary, especially 'Lat Lag Gayee' and 'Allah Duhai Hai' songs, which are already on the lips of the people.

Overall, a great film for thrill seekers!
