Preity in Yash Raj's nextEye TV India Bureau
Fans of dimpled beauty Preity Zinta will have a sigh of relief. Their favorite star is all set to make her comeback with the Yash Raj's new film 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', starring Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif. Significantly, she will now be seen in her most glamorous best unlike her latest movies where she played serious roles like in Deepa Mehta's 'Earth' and Rituparno Ghosh's 'The Last Lear'. This time she plays an interesting character with all sex appeal. When asked about her role, the pretty actress just asked us to wait. But according to the sources she will play a special role by falling in love with an upper middle class Imraan Khan hailing from a North Indian family. We saw Preity last in 'Main Aur Mrs Khanna' doing a special song-and-dance number for Salman Khan. In a tete-tete, the actress said that she is just back home after spending months in the US bonding with her brother's newborn daughter.
Excerpts of her interview:
Are you planning to settle in the US?
No, I had just been there for a holiday. I had not mingled with my family for a long, long time and since I was free, I went.
Then, why did you absent yourself from films?
Had I started working on movies I wouldn't have been able to meet them. My brother lives in America and he has a daughter who looks exactly like me though she has no dimples. I wanted to spend time with her.
What are your plans now?
For two years I hadn't focused on myself as an actress. Cricket was my focus. Now that I am back to doing movies I have been focusing on myself. I go to gym regularly and take care of myself.
Will you elaborate on your future movies?
New things are happening in my life. I wish I could talk about them, but wait for a week or so and I will announce them.
Is cricket over for you? Have you sold your team?
It's amazing that there has been so much speculation about Kings XI and that I have sold it off to new and different people. Season four will hopefully be a good though without Preity or her team in it.
Do you regret losing good films like 'Robot' and 'Ishkiyan'?
No. There were a lot of ups and downs in my life. I am not a super girl. People expected me to do five films a year plus concentrate on my IPL team. There were two choices either to put my feet in two boats or say thank you for support. I chose the latter
Do you see yourself directing a movie?
If I come across something that makes sense maybe I will.
