Shahid Kapur hates to be called a 'multiplex star'. He wants to connect with every audience as that's the key to success. Beginning in ad commercials as a child artist, he made a commendable debut with 'Ishq Vishq'. But then 'Jab We Met', 'Vivah' and now 'Kaminey' have transcended him to greater heights. Certain stories termed him as 'multiplex star' but Shahid wants to disapprove of it. Shahid said it's good to hear a wonderful title, but if it is a statement of reality, he would like to perform on any role that connects him will all kinds of audience. He thanked multiplexes for rendering him a big support for the success story of 'Kaminey' by hosting 25 shows a day!

SHABANA VISITS DHAKA

Shabana Azmi inaugurated a painting exhibition in Dhaka reently. She said South Asians should work together without losing their diversity if they want a place in the global map. She was not talking about homogeneity. She further said this is not a melting pot where individual identities get submerged. In fact, the subcontinent is a colourful combination and this diversity is our strength. The actress was moved by the works of Bangladeshi artist Shahabuddin depicting the travails of the people during their liberation war against Pakistan in 1971. The exhibition has been named "Jai Bangla", a slogan given by the country's founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It became the war cry during the freedom movement. She was looking at Shahabuddin's works. The images stopped her in her tracks and she was immersed in the world of paintings.

TRISHA PLAYS 2 AVATARS

Actresses from south are entering in a big way in Bollywood. After Asin, it's the turn of another south beauty Trisha to entertain the B-town. Trisha was initially launched in Tamil by Priyadarshan. Now the filmmaker is even launching her in Hindi. Priyadarshan is bringing another hilarious entertainer with 'Khatta Meetha'. Akshay Kumar romances with Trisha in the movie. In 'Khatta Meetha' Trisha has two different avatars in the script but it's not a double role. She has to go into two different time zones. The director says that unlike his other films with Akshay, 'Khatta Meetha' is not a comedy. It's a family film on the lines of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee films, with lots of scope for Trisha.

AAMIR KEEPS TAB ON 'WANTED'

Aamir Khan is keeping a close tab on his buddy Salman Khan's flick 'Wanted''s box office collections. The film has opened to bumper collections all over India in the single screens and the multiplexes. Aamir's 'Ghajini' was the last Bollywood film to break big in the single screens and collect huge collections. The trade has been claiming that 'Wanted' has overtaken 'Ghajini' at many centers. This is another matter that most of the critics have lashed out the film. However, 'Wanted' has been conquering the box office even in its second week. Incidentally, Aamir was invited personally by Salman to have a glance of his 'Wanted', days before its release. But with Aamir being busy with his '3 Idiots' it was not possible for him. But he has finally watched the film and loved Salman's acting in it.
