Bollywood isn't only returning to normalcy after the end of the long standoff but catching up too fast. After 'New York' was released Friday June 26th and grossed over Rs 350 million record during the three-day weekend, we shall watch another much-hyped and long awaited mega budget 'Kambakht Ishq' starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor coming Friday, July 3rd. Like the previous week the big movie will hit the screens along with a fast-paced entertainer titled 'Sankat City' produced by Moserbaer and Seven Entertainment Limited, and directed by Pankaj Advani. While 'Kambkhat …' is very well publicized, the latter features an assortment of crazy characters - a car thief, a con woman, gangster, film producer, builder, mechanic, prostitute, hit man, cabbie, actor, his duplicate etc.
In the movie, desperate men and women shadowbox with the vagaries of chance and fate, whose madcap antics result in their lives getting entwined with each other, leading to madness and mayhem! Money, murder, revenge, greed, fear, deceit, not to mention fun-n-frolic and last but not the least, romance form the ingredients of this comic thriller.
According to the movie's story, one night, while returning to his kholi, Guru played by KK Menon chances upon a swank Mercedes parked outside a brothel unattended. He steals it and takes it to his partner-in-crime Ganpat played by Dilip Prabhawalkar . While working on the car they discover a sum of Rs 10 million. While they are delirious with joy, they are unaware that the car and the money belong to a vicious gangster/loan shark called Faujdaar played by Anupam Kher. Guru's plans rebound when he tries to sell the stolen Mercedes to Rahul Dev, a hit man, who notifies his friend Faujdaar about the car. Faujdaar sends his henchman with Guru to retrieve the cash from Ganpat's garage.
Meanwhile, Ganpat meets with an accident and loses memory! Faujdaar gives him 3 days to cough up the dough. The dejected Guru bumps into Rimi Sen, named Mona, who vamoosed with all the money. She puts a sting on builder Pachisia played by Yashpal Sharma. Mona and Guru successfully con a large sum of money off the builder only to lose it again to a strange quirk of fate. The story then weaves itself to a thrilling climax, going through a series of hilarious events, comic situations and nerve-wracking moments! Will the sankat (crisis) be over soon is the moot question that remains to be unfolded in the movie?
