Madhya Pradesh state's police are very much upset following Monica Bedi's entry into the reality show 'Bigg Boss'. This is to recall that Monica Bedi was extradited along with gangster Abu Salem from Portugal in 2005 and lodged as an under trial in the state's Central Jail in connection with a fake passport case. Though the Salem's alleged companion was acquitted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court and later by the Sessions Court, the prosecution has appealed against her acquittal in the High Court. This has led the state police to probe how she got the show offer. The police suspect her alleged links even now with the underworld. They say that Monica was given roles in Hindi films in the past due to pressure of the underworld on filmmakers.
Shilpa Shetty-hosted 'Bigg Boss', which has 14 participants, is being aired on newly launched TV channel Colors from August 17. No sooner the show began than it entered into a controversy. Only last week Aamir Khan's brother Faisal Khan filed a case against the organizers for dropping him from the show without assigning any reason. Soon, Ramdas Athawale, Lok Sabha member and president of the Republic Party of India, alleged that he was dropped from the show because of being a Dalit. Not only that the entry followed by the exit of even Shilpa Shetty's colleague Jade Goody notorious for her alleged racist remark against Shilpa is significant. She had to leave the reality show following the report that she has been suffering from cancer!
