Nandita Das, a young pretty girl belonging to talented parents, has finally stepped into direction. She has already bagged innumerable awards in acting. Her debut directorial film, 'Firaaq-In Such Times' stars top-notch actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Paresh Rawal, Tisca Chopra and Sanjay Suri. Her film is an ensemble of five stories dealing with emotions, relationships, reaction and helplessness in such times. Nandita Das claims that the movie deals with a delicate situation. Though it's not a comedy, yet it definitely touches one's heart, she adds.
For Sanjay Suri, "Firaaq' means separation. Some have a long separation and some have a short one, but they share the same agony, he adds. " I play a Muslim who does not wear his name on his face. It's about my wife and me and how we deal with the complex emotions at such times." The film is about how violence affects the people's lives. Though Nandita has been the director, yet she doesn't throw any tantrum or tries to show any air. In fact, the cast says that she behaves just like a member from amongst them. Being what she is known for she has based the movie on conversational language. This means a mixture of English, Hindi, and Urdu as is spoken by the people.
