The Delhi High Court has asked the quarreling couple of actress Karisma Kapoor and the businessman Sanjay Kapoor to settle their dispute amicably outside the court before the next date fixed for August 24, for the sake of the child. Besides, the court has asked all concerned parties to submit their replies to it by August 19.The dispute is about Karisma getting a passport made for her and her four-month old daughter without information of her husband. At the previous hearing, the court had passed an interim order restraining her from going abroad with the child without her husband's consent. Meanwhile, Karisma's father Randhir Kapoor has told the media that he would be happy if the matter is amicably settled between the husband and wife. This is to recall that Karisma's parents -Randhir Kapoor and her mother Babita -- have been living separately from each other for the last several years.

Ram Gopal Verma will soon fulfill the long cherished ambition of Big B to play the character of Gabbar Singh in Ramesh Sippy's famous film 'Sholay' that was screened some thirty years ago. In Shippy's 'Sholay', late Amzad Khan had excellently played the role of Gabbar Singh. And, Amzad had become the super actor by performing this character whose dialogues were written by Salim Zaved. This is to recall that Big B had then played the key character of Jay in Sippy's 'Sholay' along with Dharmendra and Hema Malini. The latter had become synonymous with her character Basanti of 'Sholay'. Since Ramu is remaking 'Sholay' now though with a slight change, he has offered the Gabbar's role to Amitabh, and Jay's to Mohit Ahlawat, the director's new favorite. Ramu's decision has excited Amitabh Bachchan, who is anxiously looking forward to play the Gabbar's coveted role.

    Censor cuts real name

Rahul Dholakia, a Los Angeles-based filmmaker, has made a social movie titled 'Parzania' based on the true story of a Parsi couple that loses their child during the communal riots. The movie had to face cuts in its reels by the Censor Board, it is learnt. This movie is based on the true political story of two characters that have been fictionally named in the movie. They look for their lost child in the midst of communal frenzy prevailing in the town. Dholakia has no regret though he is not allowed to call the Vishwa Hindu Parishad by its real name. At most, he can say Parishad, he has been told. Dholakia is still happy to screen his film starring two Bollywood's top stars like Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika, acting in the key roles and that too without charging their usual remuneration. Besides, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has lent the music.

The screening of the long-awaited Aamir starrer 'Mangal Pandy - The Rising' was disrupted on its release day at some centers, especially close to Balia (Uttar Pradesh), the birthplace of Mangal Pandey. The locals say that the movie has no mention of Balia and the story has certain twists that aren't true. The Balia theater hall owner refused to screen the movie. Besides, shops selling CDs and cassettes there were disrupted too. It is feared that the situation may turn worse on August 18th when the locals will observe the shahidi day.
