'Emotional Atyachar' is a colorful but a dark comedy. Sorry to say that it is neither a nice comedy nor a good thriller. Though the title is borrowed from a DevD's song or from a TV serial, it completely lacks music. Yes, its debut director Akshay Shere tries his hands on all shades, but in vain. Similarly, the movie's contents don't justify the title. In fact, the director presents a cocktail, or better says a mock tail. The plot suffers from the lack cohesion, absence of screenplay and also of good music. The selection of cast is good, but their talent seems to have been wasted.

The movie centers on a bunch of characters who aim at making huge money any way. This group comprises the duo of ruthless killers - Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey, besides a gangster in Ravi Kissen and his tapori gambler Abhimanyu Singh. Since the movie needs a female too to entertain the audience, there is glamorous Kalki Koechlin to add romance to the movie. Though strange but the girl gets herself kidnapped. Her dress and make up fail to impress. Why not include a small business guy also to the story, and here comes Mohit Ahlawat. Incidentally, all of them come together because of their common objective of making huge wealth the easiest way. We may better describe them as a bunch of mercenaries? They land on the Mumbai-Goa highway in the hope of amassing others' wealth.

Significantly, the movie's lead character Ranvir Shorey has a double bonanza as the actor is getting married today with his long standing girlfriend Konkona Sen Sharma along with the release of his latest flick. Though they have been dating and living together for years, they are quietly married on the auspicious day of the release of the bridegroom's latest flick. Congrats, Ranvir.

Overall, the movie is a disappointment.
