This is a different kind of movie, far from the usual types. This seems to have been made keeping in view the audience of the multiplexes and the metros. It is learnt that when Apporva Lakhia decided to make it, he also vowed not to direct it himself. Moreover, Apporva also thought of casting unknown names. However, he didn't leave any stone unturned to make his movie as hot as possible. Thus, its director Shawn Arranha chose a difficult job of making 'Hide & Seek' into a different genre, and this type of genre demands a greater skill on the part of the director. Significant is its tagline 'friendship will never be the same again'!

According to the movie's story, six kids Om (Purab Kohli), Abhimanyu (Samir Kochhar), Jaideep (Arjan Bajwa), Imran (Ayaz Khan), Gunita (Amruta Patki) and Jyotika (Mrinalini Sharma) come together on a night to celebrate Christmas party. It all happens as a game on a chilly Christmas. However, the kids celebrate under the watchful eyes of their parents. But strangely, one of them takes drugs, another one finds a pistol kept in a drawer; a boy and girl spend some quality time in the bathroom. More significant is that the elders do not even have the slightest idea of the mischief made by their kids that night. Besides, none of the kids thinks that their lives will change after playing this game!

As the luck would have it, all of them grow and turn successful in their different spheres. However, Om played by Purab Kohli is an exception; he spends 12 long years in hospital after that very Christmas night. Hence, the mystery as to what had happened that Christmas night? The cat is out of the bag. Om loved her childhood sweetheart Jyothika though his mother didn't want him to keep any contact with her. That's why Jyothika never met her sweetheart even once in all twelve years that Om spent in the hospital. But, Om has no grouse against Jyothika. After all, the four other friends too never met him in the hospital. Strangely, his elder brother Abhimanya, played by Samir of the 'Jannat' fame, hadn't met him too.

Next, someone brings them all together to play Hide n Seek game all over again! But this time it will cost them their lives! Haunted by the past they meet in a shopping mall and six best friends turn into worst enemies as they play 'Hide & Seek'! Incidentally, Purab Kohli loves Mrinalini Sharma and wants to gift her a miniature Taj Mahal. But Amruta Patki wants the Taj for herself because she loves the simple boy. She spurns the overtures of Arjan Bajwa, who is the tapori son.

Humiliated by hotheaded Amruta, Arjan tries to avenge himself with the help of Ayaz Khan. And seeing this at home, Sameer gets envious of his younger brother Om's popularity, and twists the events in order to get him out of his way. And as the odd friends try to resolve their old differences, Santa Claus comes from the dark shadows of the deserted mall. Here we find the movie reminding us of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and its Hindi version 'Kuch to Hai'.

Anyway, even though a small budget movie it doesn't let the audience lose the grip because of the director's interesting way of telling the story plus the dialogues delivery by Arjan Bajwa. The music directors of the movie are Gourav Dasgupta and Chirantan Bhatt of 'Dus Kahaniyan' and 'Aa Dekhen Zara' fame. 'Hide & Seek' has more than just a couple of good songs like 'Friday Night' and 'Kaise Jiyu'.
