'Dhoondte Reh Jaoge' is a comedy starring a good cast comprising Kunal Khemu, Sonu Sood, Soha Ali Khan and Paresh Rawal. Umesh Shukla has directed it. The theme is interesting and funny, too. However, the movie suffers from a lack of good script. Had the writer provided a complete and well-woven script the movie would have certainly entertained the audience by meeting their expectations. Since three movies are releasing this Friday and every one of them belongs to a different genre, we expected 'Dhoondte Reh Jaoge' to provide good entertainment. That's why it has found more than fifty cinema halls whereas as the other two have hardly found 18 theaters each. The second movie is 'Karma and Holi', a romantic movie that provides Sushmita Sen and her ex-lover Ranbir Hooda's bold and intimate love scenes. The third one is '13 B' - a suspense movie.

The director of UTV's 'Dhoondte Reh Jaoge, Umesh Shukla, had the script ready with him for two and a half year, no filmmaker was coming forward to risk his money with Shukla as director. Luckily, Shukla got in touch with Roney Screwala who agreed to make it with Shukla as director. Shukla entrusted the selection of the cast to Paresh Rawal who signed Kunal Khemu and later Soha Ali Khan opposite Khemu. The movie's shoot was completed in a short span of 55 days in Goa and Pune in India and also in Malaysia. The movie is released with 52 prints in the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh territory alone.

According to the story, Paresh Rawal plays an unsuccessful film producer. He is desperate to make a film and strikes a comeback. He gets an opportunity as Kunal Khemu, a frustrated chartered accountant, decides to play a fraud as his girlfriend wishes to settle down in her life. Incidentally, his girlfriend is played by Bollywood's pretty girl Soha Ali Khan. In this movie, Soha plays the next-door girl who is simple and a behenji type. But, Soha dreams of turning a star! This prompts her boyfriend Kunal Khemu to make a movie by casting her as the heroine.

He feels that he would thus not only satisfy her girlfriend's wish but also make good money in the deal! He doesn't mind the movie failing miserably and thus put an end to Soha's ambition of becoming a star. Both Paresh Rawal and Kunal Khemu join hands and exploit the reigning star, Sonu Sood, in their venture. However, the luck turns table in favor of Soha Ali Khan. Not only the movie doesn't flop by inviting public anger, it catches the audience as it parodies all the successful Bollywood films from 'Sholay' to 'Gadar' to 'Lagaan'.

Critically analyzing the movie, we find that the reverse has happened. Isn't it an irony, that instead of 'Dhoondte Reh Jaoge' hitting the box office, it hasn't fared well in theaters, when the Rawal-Kunal joint venture in the movie succeeds even though the producer wishes it to be a flop! Another irony is that this comedy has failed though its theme was good but it lacked adequate screenplay. The director seems to have ignored this vital aspect of any movie while hurrying up in making and releasing it.
