'Chandni Chowk to China' is the movie of our Dilli da Munda (son of Delhi), earlier known as khiladi Akshay Kumar. He is on top of theworld after this movie produced by Warner Bros, and very widelyscreened with the maximum prints numbering 1400 and simultaneouslypremiered in six countries. Besides, Akshay Kumar can take the creditfor its latest title 'Chandani Chowk to China' instead of 'Mumbai toChina', as planned earlier. The hero suggested and the director andthe producer accepted it, perhaps because Akshay belongs to Old Delhi, and in particular to Chandni Chowk, historically recognized shoppingcenter of the Walled City of Delhi. So, the actor got the significantpart of the movie shot in Chandni Chowk's small lanes and bye lanesin full eight days.

The last Mughal emperor's famous poets likeGhalib and Zaunk weren't wrong in wondering if anyone would ever thinkof moving out of Delhi's streets! The heroine Deepika Padukoneattributes the movie's tough shooting, including the amazing stuntscenes, to her mentor Akshay's training to her for hours before thereal shoot. Later, it was shot in Mumbai followed by Shanghai andBeijing. Though true but unbelievable that the movie created anamazing craze among the viewers who downloaded three million promosfrom its website!

The story is insignificant inasmuch as it travels from paranthewaligalli (the Old Delhi shopping place famous for stuffed bread rolls)to the Great Wall of China. Akshay begins his journey from avegetable chopper to a messiah in the guise of Liu Sheng in the movie.Besides, he plays as Siddhu and the latter's transcontinental journeywith a potato and a conman played by Ranvir Shorey. Ranvir's companywith Siddhu (Akshay) is not understandable though the pulverizedlocals believe he will deliver them from the evil Hojo (Gordon Liu)and Miao Miao played by Deepika Padukone. In fact, even buffoonery ofSiddhu fails when Hojo kills off his Dada (Mithun) who keeps egginghim on to fight, despite being a ghost! Dada's role is excellent.

After all, none other than Mithun Chaktravorty plays it. Similarly, one cannot comprehend the story woven around a daddy-gone-missingand twin Deepikas going their separate ways and still the destinybringing them together against their common enemy. According to thestory, Sidhu (Akshay) is a vegetable chopper employed by Dada (MithunChakraborty), but wants to rise by listening to the local quack babaChopstick played by Ranvir Shorey. When Sidhu finds a potato on whichis carved Lord Ganesha, he adopts this as `bappa'. Sidhu is areincarnation of their slain hero and can save their village from theevil Hojo. Chopstick lands in China with an unknowing Sidhu. Both keeprunning into Sakhi (Deepika Padukone) who is there to pay tribute toher Chinese father and sister. She transforms into Kung-Fu expertnamed Meow Meow who is being pursued by the police. Hojo has a connectwith both Sidhu and Sakhi.

Akshay takes the entire movie on his strong shoulders. Who else inBollywood dare play as varied roles as that of a simple leadingman who could both act a fool and a macho man to fight bad guys andthen also flirt with an heroine! He provides you all humor and thattoo without being vulgar. What a humor? When he is kicked on thebackside so he flies, reaching the sky, and then falling flat on amarriage place or screaming something about tearing innerwear!

Incidentally, Nikhil Advani should have a sigh of relief as the movieis a success unlike his last venture 'Salaam-E-Ishq'.
