Two movies -'Sorry Bhai' and ' Oye Lucky Lucky Oye' released this Friday. Since the two already running movies, say, Karan Johar's 'Dostana' and Subhash Ghai's 'Yuvvraaj' have already lost their shine/ craze; the new releases have had no difficulty in securing their choicest theaters. Exhibitors, in fact, were waiting for new movies. Let's watch Onir's 'Sorry Bhai' first. This is a fun, holiday-romance film, worth feel-good watch as it depicts unique situations and emotions of a family in a light hearted way. The movie handles the forbidden love concept in a very progressive way.
It tries to depict the attraction of an elder brother's fiancé for the younger brother, which is contrary to the Indian tradition. For example, we cite the great example of Lord Ram's younger brother Lakshman's extraordinary respect for his elder brother's wife - Sita, whom the younger sibling considers as his mother! The saying goes that Lakshman hadn't seen Sita's face and only remembered her feet. According to the movie's story, a shy scientist Siddharth Mathur travels to Mauritius with his brother's parents to his marriage though their mother was least interested in attending the wedding of her eldest son and the latter had decided to marry a girl without consulting parents.

Though a romantic comedy the movie faces the problems when it comes across an unconventional love story. Luckily, Bollywood is presently coming out with bold new themes and is no more dependent on big stars only, there has been a shift from bigger stars to smaller and lesser known as well as economically viable actors but with new subjects not touched before. That's why we find actors like Irrfan Khan, Vinay Pathak, Ranveer Shorey, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rajat Kapoor, to name a few. Even one movie actor like Chitrangada Singh of her debut ' Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi' has returned to the screen with success. Believe it that she has proved much better than her contemporaries because of her charm and acting skill.

The movie depicts the unconventional love growing between Chitrangada Singh and her fiancé's younger brother, and that too only a few days before their wedding. In fact, Chitrangda is to marry Sanjay Suri who is a stock broker. He invites his family to Mauritius for his marriage. While Sanjay's dad played by Boman Irani and scientist brother played by Sharman Joshi, favor Sanjay's decision to marry Chitrangda, his mother Shabana Azmi is skeptical of the potential daughter-in-law.

This is a usual saas-bahu drama. Moreover, Sanjay is always busy in his work and leaves his fiancé in the care of his younger scientist brother. The latter escorts his would be bhabhi ( elder brother's wife) to the beautiful places of Mauritius. Meanwhile Chitrangda falls in love with her fiancé's younger brother Sharman who has passion for jazz and his research for his wooden dog to fly! Incidentally, Sharman also falls for Chitrangda though he has equal love and respect for his elder brother.

How this unconventional relationship between a devar and bhabhi takes place is the crux of the movie. Since the director wishes to make it a comedy, he has emphasized more on the performances of the actors -- Chitrangda Singh, Sanjay Suri and Sharman Joshi - rather than on weaving the story any more. He ends it on a happy note. Similarly, Onir has shown the parents-Boman Irani and Shabani Azmi couple - performing their best again. They prove their chemistry in this movie as they had shown in their earlier movie 'Honeymoon Travels' . In fact, Onir proves that the script and the director can make or mar a movie and not the so called big stars.
