Bollywood's showman Subhash Ghai has come out this time with a musical story of a fragmented family comprising three brothers. The title of the movie 'Yuvvraaj' is based on one of the three brothers named Devan Yuvvraaj played by Salman Khan. The other two brothers are Gyanesh played by Anil Kapoor and Danny played by Zayed Khan. The trio quarrel among themselves with a view to inherit their father's wealth. As usual in a Bollywood, the story takes a turn following the arrival of a pretty girl Anushka played by none other than the girlfriend of Salman Khan (Katrina Kaif).

Thus, Ghai has not only made up with Salman Khan but brought Salman and Katrina together in his film. They play their roles too well. But, mind it that the trio woos Katrina, who is a cellist. She tells the trio about the power of relationships over that of money. She adds that music binds the love between them. Alas, Katrina plays melodies on the cello but finds it difficult to do justice as it several years to learn it. However, she does play melody of 'Yuvvraaj' on the cello. After all, Salman plays a musician in the movie. Salman transforms a musician in stages from that of a young man dressed in jeans to that of a rebel followed by a matured one.

He plays a musician as well as he acts and dances in any of his movies. The other two brothers aren't much behind. While Ghai's friend Anil Kapoor looks elegant in his richest dresses, Zayed Khan is just different inasmuch as he plays a gambler. Subhash Ghai sends Zayed to a casino in Austria to learn to gamble there! Incidentally, the movie was being shot there. Ghai doesn't leave anything to chance and gathers as many stars as possible.

That's why 'Yuvvraaj' has Mithun Chakravarty, Boman Irani and Aushima Sawhney though briefly. Besides, he introduces an American actor Jacob 'Coby' Hadas. However, they don't lend any big support to the movie. Story-wise, 'Yuvvraaj' is as old as Ghai's earlier films like 'Hero' and 'Ram Lakhan'. This is a love story involving three brothers and the evil character of Shakuni mama and his family eyeing on the family inheritance.

Salman is in love with Katrina but her father, Boman, doesn't like him. Salman walks away from his home not being able to get along with his millionaire dad. But, on learning his dad's demise, he rushes off to London to get his huge share and thus influence Boman to marry his daughter to him. But there are his brothers: Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan. Anil is born from his dad's first marriage and Zayed is the philanderer. Anil gets the biggest share. Salman and Zayed want to control Anil the wrong way. However, brotherly love prevails at last.

Since this is the only new release this Friday (November 21st), Ghai has an added advantage to woo those who wait to watch each and every new movie. If it would succeed at the box office could be a guess only. Analyzing the movie, we admit that the connoisseurs of lyrics and music will certainly watch 'Yuvvraaj'. After all, Gulzar has penned lyrics and A.R. Rahman has composed its music. Any music lover will go to the theater to appreciate these two topmost personalities of Bollywood in their respective fields.

Technically too, the movie is likely to fare well. Kabir Lal's cinematography is commendable. While Omung Kumar is the art director. Chinni and Rekha Prakash along with Ahmed Khan and Shiamak Davar have choreographed. The most significant thing is that Subhash Ghai has himself written the dialogues. And, Ghai is superb in this art. Similarly, Ghai has also lent his ideas in the movie's screenplay though Sachin Bhowmick and Kamlesh Pandey have done full justice to their professional skill.
