Yet again, one more disappointment lies in the much hyped 'Jimmy' that audiences are bearing for the last two Fridays with the array of Bollywood's pitiable performances like 'Tashan' followed by 'Mr White Mr Black'. The story lacks the fervor of originality and it is difficult to find anything that is worth mentioning barring Mimoh's dance skills. 'Jimmy' is by no means going to prove Mimoh Chakraborty's firm platform to register his name in Bollywood star list. It is hard to believe that Mithun Chakraborty who has around 30 years of experience in the industry can do such a blunder by approving 'Jimmy's script for the debut movie of his son.

But after watching Mimoh, one will definitely say that he is promising and has ability to do miracles given the right roles. 'Jimmy' is really big but for the script. Mimoh proves his worth in different roles in the movie as dancer, lover, son and fighter. He showcases hate culminating in love, exemplary friendship, betrayal in friendship, running through the jungle, besides showing the hero behind bars, dying, trying to pay off father's debts, falling terminally ill and what not.

'Jimmy' is hodgepodge of several masala movies plus old and outdated concepts put together in the screenplay. People nowadays are looking for different and original movies, which should have their own place. In this multiplex era, one has to be innovative. According to the story, in the dead of the night, the police recovers a young woman's dead body. That leads to accuse Jimmy who is a mechanical engineer by day and a dancing sensation by night.

He works as a DJ in the local discotheque to pay off the debts left behind by his late father. While everybody is shocked, Jimmy owns up the murder and is sentenced to death. Why would a young man on the threshold of life commit such a heinous crime? Only Jimmy knows the truth. In a sudden twist of fate, Jimmy realizes in jail that he has been drawn into a vicious conspiracy. But, it's too late... or is it?

Writer Ranbir Pushp has presented stained food and that too not even in a brand new dish. Director Raj N C Sippy is not able to clinch something out of a slapdash script. In the music department, Marhaba is the only track that is composed by Bappa Lahri , a prodigy of Disco King Bappi Lahri, which is foot-tapping. Anyway, Mimoh has that niche to go ahead and can step in his father's shoes. Few good and challenging roles will certainly help him move up. Vivana, the heroine of 'Jimmy', has nice looks, but not a tinge of acting skill. Zulfi Syed bores his audience with exaggerations. Talended Rahul Dev is simply wasted. Ehsaan Khan and Vikas Kalantri do not perform either. As far as the other star cast is concerned, there is nothing worth mentioning , except for some overacting by Shakti Kapoor.

Overall, Mimoh is the only reason for you to remember 'Jimmy'. However, watch this movie at your own peril.
