'Sirf -- Life looks greener on the other side' isn't the apt title for the movie inasmuch as the movie on the screen is concerned. Two movies - 'Tashan' from the big banner i.e Yash Raj Movies and 'Sirf - Life looks Greener on the other side' from a small banner called Seven Eagle Productions, got released this Friday. Both the movies are different from each other. Let's talk about the small banner movie, I mean, 'Sirf - Life looks greener on the other side'.

The movie starcast comprises Kay Kay Menon, Manisha Koirala, Sonali Kulkarni, Ranbir Shorey, Parveen Dabbas, Rituparna Sengupta, Ankur Khanna and Nauheed Cyrusi. The movie is directed by Rajaatesh Nayar, who has earlier worked with Raj Kumar Santoshi as Assistant Director for the movies like 'China Gate', 'Pukar' and 'Lajja'. If you had seen 'Metro' then you can easily connect with 'Sirf - Life looks…………'. During the viewing of the movie you can easily connect as the movie have all the characters that you see in your daily routine life. You will find four different stories in one movie.

'Sirf - Life looks greener on the other side' revolves around four couples Gaurav (Kay Kay Menon) - Devika (Manisha Koirala); Namita (Sonali Kulkarni) - Akash (Ranbir Shorey); Amit (Parveen Dabbas) - Suchita (Rituparna Sengupta) and Rahul (Ankur Khanna) - Shalu (Nauheed Cyrusi). One couple has money, they are looking for love. The other has love but money is missing in their life and the third couple is searching for trust. The fourth couple has to find time to nurture everything else that they have. They all belong to different levels of society and each couple has their own problems to deal with, but somewhere they all come across each other on the crossroads of life, and each one of them is connected with one another in some or the other way.

Ironically, the scriptwriter tries to introduce peace among the four couples in spite of their just opposite positions. How can the writer do it without creating the necessary background? There is no justifying interlink between the pre-interval and the post-interval plot. That's why the Metro's script stands better than Sirf's. This places the director and his acting team in a disadvantageous position. Like the weak story, the music is equally uninspiring and relegated to the background.

Kay Kay Menon, Ranvir Shorey, Sonali Kulkarni and Manisha Koirala go well with their characters . But, Rituparna's humour isn't always very pleasant to the ears. Parvin Dabas and Ankur Khanna do fairly well and Nauheed Cyrusi appears pleasing to one's eyes. The director and the scriptwriter have failed in synchronizing their thoughts.

That's why the plot of the movie lacks interlinks between its pre and post interval periods. Besides, the movie has had a tough time on its first opening day. The movie faced a stiff competition from the other movie -- Yash Raj Films' Tashan released today . More than that is the still stiffer challenge from the IPL, the sports-cum-entertainment event that has been attracting the general public more than the movies. IPL provides the viewers both the movie stars as well as cricket .
