You don't tend to see a movie that has been dragged into controversies - one after the other. When 'Krazzy 4' reaches theatres across the world, makers of the movie Rakesh Roshan are already minus Rs 2 million in their kitty. This is the amount that Roshans have paid to music director Ram Sampat (his last film as a film music director was 'Khakee') for lifting the latter's tunes to shoot two-item numbers picturised on Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan. 'Krazzy 4' is another extension of a comedy genre that its writer Ashwani Dheer started by writing serials likes 'Office Office' on the small screen. He also made his debut as film director in last week's release 'One Two Three'. In 'Krazzy 4' another debutant director Jaideep Sen teams up with him to make a comedy that has its inspiration in Hollywood film 'The Dream Team'.

Four psychic guys out in the open to find their perfect world conceive an interesting idea for a feature film. But Ashwani Dheer repeats the same mistake here that he committed in his 'One Two Three'. So, he may bite dust at the box office. To hatch an idea is totally different from transforming it into a two and a half hour story for the big screen. Problem with 'Krazzy 4' is that it doesn't have even a single crown pulling face. Irfaan Khan may be charging moon these days as his fee, but he is yet to find pan Indian fans. And, so is our circuit Arshad Warsi. Suresh Menon and Rajpal Yadav have never been favorites as leading men, so the task for producer Rakesh Roshan gets so tough that he had to introduce his son Hrithik and his old friend Shah Rukh Khan (Rakesh gave him chance in films like 'King Uncle' and 'Koyla') to boost the film prospects.

Before I get into dissecting and comparing performances of Hrithik and Shah Rukh in their item songs, I wish to get back to story of 'Krazzy 4' first. There are four crazy persons in the story. Raja (Arshad Warsi) is a guy who bursts into anger almost on everything. To control his anger is like controlling a volcano. But, then his anger does not make you clinch your fists; instead it loosens your jaw line. Competing with Raja all the time is Dr. Mukherjee, who is a self-declared leading man of the spoilt brats. In his attempt to lead the team, he ends up pulling their tales and creating a situation that goes beyond control even for him. These two main characters are padded up with Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav) and Suresh Menon (Dabboo).

While Gangadhar is still living in his past and having illusions of Bapu here and there, Dabboo is your boy next-door kind of chap who you always want to adapt. Add a psychiatrist Dr. Sonali (Juhi Chawla) to this mad gang and the recipe is complete. But, even a brilliant recipe requires some garnishment and some added flavor that could make a plate look attractive and tasty. 'Krazzy 4' fails at this juncture. The problem starts with the film's conception. The film that is being delivered as a comedy isn't a fun film in totality. 'Krazzy 4' is of the genre that once saw the pinnacle with filmmakers like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Kundan Shah. Ashwani Dheer does write funny lines for his characters but he misses the thrust at plot points. The story moves on in a dull manner and whatever happens to make the story move occurs too late.

Director Jaideep Sen has also not conceived the whole film as one story. He keeps changing his making style with the scenes and sometimes with the characters. While filming Suresh Menon he adopts the Priyadarshan style but during shooting a scene with Irfaan he tries to follow Hrishikesh Mukherjee school of thought. It may be the need of the production house, but Jaideep fails to leave his stamp on the film and it only makes 'Krazzy 4' looks like any other film from Bollywood. There have to be expectations when one is waiting for a film from Film Kraft, the Rakesh Roshan banner. If Roshans prefer to stick to their favorite word 'K' for the film's title then they should also have given a product that has something new in narration.

All said and done, there are two paisa vasool numbers in the film and just these two songs make you happier than the whole film. Hrithik's graphically enhanced video falls short of Shah Rukh's power-packed performance. The king shows his power once again and it will take time for Hrithik to reach there. Choreography in both the songs is superb. In the acting department, Arshad Warsi emerges a clear winner. He is the best in the lot. Everyone else is just trying to match his energy and timing in the film. On the whole, 'Krazzy 4' is an average film; it offers nothing great, but if you have decided to go for it, it won't bore you to some extent.
