The year 2007 is likely to end with a few horror movies. First, we witnessed 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and now another flick titled 'Gauri -The Unborn'. In the past the Ramsay house has been known for releasing such movies but of late another expert has joined his company. This artist is none other than our famous director Ram Gopal Verma. 'Gauri -The Unborn' is a movie based on the same concept of unnatural force. Besides, it has an added characteristic of a social message.
This is to recall that one watched 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' starring a host of Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal plus Rajpal Yadav and Asrani to enjoy a comedy but might have felt a shock to find a horror theme in it. In any way, the subject of the movie has been treated differently . That's why we find the movie a mix of horror and comedy together clubbed and shown in the movie.

The movie 'Gauri-The Unborn' seems to be one conveying a laudable social message to the audience. However, the promos of the movie on television showed a little girl performing the horror sequences. The movie being made for the banner Myth Productions and Adlabs Films is presented by R Mohan and promoted by Ram Gopal Verma. The movie is produced by Amit Mohan and directed by Aku Akbar.

Coming back to the movie, it is similar to horror sequences performed by Vidya Balaln in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'. The latter's sequences were indirectly treated to be Physco Analysis that favored the tantra and black magic conducted on patients suffering from the problems by infamous baba's prevalent in many parts of India. On the other hand, Gauri has tried to show a link between Physco Analysis and unknown elements to get foreign audience to the movie. 'Gauri - The Unborn' uses such subject to give out its social theme to its viewers. Nevertheless all these are misguiding audience into believing unnatural forces in the name of horror movies that is not very encouraging, especially coming from Bollywood.

'Gauri-The Unborn' is a story of a couple Sudeep and Roshni who have a eight year old daughter called Shivani and the couple plans to go to their ancestral home as a holiday trip on vacations and at their ancestral home they are faced with a spirit Gauri , who is the unborn child that was aborted by the couple when they lived in their house. The aborted child comes to her parents to take revenge for her death. The message in the movie is that the couple should not have aborted the unborn child once conceived. This doesn't go well with today's situation , though. This is horror movie and the child in the movie Rushita Pandya is excellent in her performance to be able to scare the audience with her horror acts and Rituparna Sengupta and Atul Kulkarni gel well with their roles . Anupam Kher doesn't have much to perform in the movie. Alas!

The story of the movie is not conceivable in this age when abortion is not considered to be a sinful act. The movie is similar to the Bhool Bhulaiya kind of horror shown though it doesn't use special effects for enhancing the horror factor. Incidentally, the movie is not entertaining or has comedy to carry out the story. The script is weak to convince audience and many times it looks to be illogical to show such a movie in the present age . Besides, it has had a tough competition with the Madhuri Dixit comeback movie under the big banner of Yashraj films.
