Once there was a fool who thought he is the smartest guy in the world. His name is Raja. He loves a chubby girl named Tina and would do anything to please her. So, he starts helping her uncle who is a thief. All these three form a gang and the uncle makes a fool of the boy by seeking more and more heist from him to clear his debt. Raja also fools an ailing woman by portraying himself as her son who was in fact killed in a road accident.

The woman lives in India Colony of Dubai with her husband and son Munna. Munna keeps Raja on his pay roll for acting like his younger brother. In between comes Lucky who arranges boxers in the ring. And, his boxer gets beaten up by Munna, so he wants Munna to get into the ring. Munna would do anything for his parents. He also saves a girl from the clutches of the don of Dubai. Incidentally, this don also works like other characters.

If you are confused and want to shift your attention elsewhere, let me tell you that there are more characters in the story. There is one more don from London, his brother is in Dubai and so is his nephew in Dubai to seek a valuable diamond. This is the real story of the new film released this Friday - 'Fool N Final'. And, with this film choreographer Ahmed Khan finally, yes finally, becomes a director.

Progression in any field is indeed a sure welcome and many like Farah Khan have done very well by trying their luck as an independent director. The move has been followed by other choreographers. B.H. Tharun Kumar tried his luck in B grade films. Another famous choreographer Saroj Khan started with a Bhojpuri film and is now making her first Hindi film. Ganesh Acharya is ready with 'Swami', his debut film as a director.

Saroj Khan has already wrapped up major portions of her second film as a director. All the choreographers have one thing in common and that is their proximity to big stars. Only Ganesh and Saroj have stayed away from using this opportunity in their films. Had choreographer Ahmed Khan learnt this lesson from his seniors, he would have been a better technician in his first film as a director.

I have seen Ahmed Khan roaming around different producers during the last four or five years. It was Vashu Bhagnani, I think, who promised to give him his first break as a film director. But, Vashu's films failed one after another and he got busy in his construction business that sounded safer for him. Ahmed Khan could get a listener in Firoz Nadiadwala though . I had seen Ahmed dejected and lost at the premiere of 'Aawara Paagal Deewana'. If I remember right he was suffering from some injury that time. Anyway, the lady luck has smiled on Ahmed and he has become a director. But, he has failed in cashing on the opportunity.

His style of presenting the film as a comic book is interesting, but 'Fool and Final' doesn't fall in that category. He gets support from major stars of Bollywood. Vivek Oberoi is suddenly hot after his role of Maya Bhai in 'Shoot Out At Lokhandwala'. After its release suddenly music channels have been found flooded with songs of Vivek Oberoi from 'Fool N Final'. Firoz had been banking on Shahid's songs for long. But, Vivek as Lucky doesn't get a good role. He is a misfit in any role that requires humor. He is the best in grey shaded characters and the producers need to write more roles for him on the lines of Chandu Nagre and Maya Bhai.

Sameera has been my favorite after I saw her in 'Kaal Purush'. But hello, what is she doing here in a new kind of role. She doesn't even get a full song; he has instead relied on Ayesha Takia who is losing innocence of her face with her passing years . Hasn't she been only growing older faster than her age! Sunny Deol after a long gives a controlled performance and is the only attraction of the film as for as masses are concerned. The cross chemistry between Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever is another highlight of the film. However, Umesh Shukla and Abbas Hierapurwala as writers should have provided them more scenes together.

The film though boasts of high technical values but falls short on the narration level. Ahmed doesn't have a story to start with; he has just made it for making's sake and this is going to harm his stature in a big way. Making swanky music videos and choreographing some bubbly film songs is altogether a different thing. Just think of so many stars in the film and now meter it with the duration of the film that is 2 hrs 20 minutes. It shows that there was no ground work done before the start of the film. It does have some good action sequences, especially that of Shahid running on cycle, but the fight on the truck carrying cars doesn't prove effective. Himesh Reshamiya's music is just like in any other film; he has no new tunes ( just some new after effects here and there in songs). Music needs soul, not machines!
