Serial kisser of Bollywood is back and back with more smooches; more sensuous encounters and more betrayal and deceit. His name is Hashmi, rather Emraan Hashmi. The name itself raises more and more expectations for those who want to watch a skin show with a lot of lust and sleaze thrown on the screen in the veil of story's demand and that too film after film. Producer Shyam Bajaj who is not an avid filmmaker and having started almost two decades back has produced or presented only five films so far, last being 'Black Mail' from his bastion, brings back this kisser boy on screen with a story that is a straight take off from films like 'Indecent Proposal' and such like.

Actor-turned-director Anant Mahadevan tries his hands on eroticism and suspense drama after making some light comedy, say, 'Yeh Dil Maange More' and a romantic affair 'Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar'. As a director Anant Mahadevan has tried to shock the audience with his out of blue approach in this film and for this he has roped in a kisser boy opposite the new sex diva Udita Goswami. Having started as a second lead hero in 'Footpath' some three years back, this kisser boy in Emraan Hashmi has become more and more lecherous over the years. All his films post-'Footpath', be it 'Murder', 'Tumsa Nahin Dekha', 'Zeher', 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne', 'Chocolate' or 'Jawani Deewani' have portrayed him as a boy who is always ready to jump in bed. Out of these, 'Murder' has been really a money-spinner whereas 'Zeher' too managed to cross the borderline of success. With him is just two-film-old Udita Goswami who is ready to throw her clothes away just on a hint from her director. The duo makes a good pair to set the screen on fire but if the fire needs a good strike, a film needs a good plot to strike!

Like every other film of Emraan, 'Aksar' too starts showing him as a happy-go-lucky kind of a guy. This time he plays a fashion photographer named Ricky. He is not a man with whom a woman can pass her whole life, because he jumps on every opportunity of infidelity available to him. The drama begins when a millionaire Raj (Dino Morea) lands in his exhibition of photographs and buys the whole stuff without asking any question. The deal is that he will sleep with this millionaire's wife (Neha Dhupia). Raj wants to make his wife Sheena (Udita Goswami) fall for the charm of Ricky so that he can get a divorce from her. As per the plan, Ricky reaches London.

Having known Ricky's habits, Sheena does not like him in the beginning but soon Ricky makes his way first in her heart and then in her bed room. During one sensuous encounter as planned earlier Raj reaches home and expects his wife ending the relationship with him. But, the shock of the story turns out to be Sheena accepting her affair in front of her husband without any hitch. Raj is perplexed now and looks for other options. He wants Ricky to go back to India, but he refuses because he is living lavishly here and also getting a woman for bed at his wish. Raj wants to get out of the situation and then a murder takes place (remember 'Murder', 'Rog' etc etc...). The story from here onwards takes the routine path of Bollywood. Alas!

At the outset 'Aksar' doesn't seem to be a boring affair (spare those who vouch for aesthetic cinema), because it has everything to satisfy a common viewer. It has hit music like. "Jhalak Dikhla Jaa…" that has become an anthem for the generation next and the music company have already raked in good money from it. It also has a good story plot in the beginning and at least for a large duration in the post- interval period too. 'Aksar' can also boast of having Udita Goswami and Emraan Hashmi. Director Anant Mahadevan tries to defy stereotype and dare make a film that challenges the set norms of Hindi Cinema.

The film does delve on the love triangle theme but very differently. And, if this difference was dealt with finesse tables would have certainly turned table in its favor. A wife cheating the husband in front of his eyes and that too very blatantly is a totally offbeat plot to make a Hindi film and Anant Mahadevan needs a pat for his effort, but what makes this film take a backseat is his inapt handling of pre-climax and climax situations. A film's climax either can make it or destroy it. The last effect of the film is the lasting effect for its viewers and on this parameter 'Aksar' fails and fails miserably.

Among actors 'Aksar' can only be fruitful for Udita Goswami who not only does a bold skin show (again!) but also offers some gripping moments as an actor too. It can be said that for the first time she has tried to act and not only be part of a glam shop. Udita as bold wife and a passionate woman has showed to filmmakers that if she is given a tailor-made role, she can bring a lot of oomph and energy to the character. And not only this, she also leaves the male cast steps behind her. Dino Morea doesn't look comfortable in the role of a millionaire husband who is fed up with his wife. Dino also looks faded in most of the scenes. And as far as Emraan Hashmi is concerned, though he looks impressive in these kinds of roles, as an actor he is killing himself by doing these repetitive roles. Tara Sharma does a cameo effectively and there is Irfaan Khan too who tries to do full justice to his role, no matter how much footage is given to him. On the whole, 'Aksar' rides high on the music notes but steeps low on its story plot.
