When the two biggies are showing their projects 'Taj Mahal' and 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' this Friday, director Parto Ghosh doesn't want to sit back. He brings forth his 'Sitam'. Parto is back after his super hit film 'Agnishakshi', but this time with a low budget and a new star cast. His movie is starring Kiran Janjani of the 'Oops' fame along with 'Page 3' fame girl Tara Sharma. Although the plot of the movie is not new, but director Parto Ghosh is still confident of 'Sitam' faring very well at box office.
The story of 'Sitam' revolves around Raj (Kiran) who is very rich and handsome. He thinks that he can achieve everything with money and with the same feeling he flirts with girls. He changes his girlfriends like clothes. He meets with Sharmila (Tara Sharma) who is a supermodel. Later, she becomes Raj's victim. Raj has a feeling that the village girls are more respectable and are more suitable for marrying with. With this feeling he moves to a village, where he meets another girl Chandni (Tara in double role) who is very innocent and good looking. Like any other Bollywood movie, 'Sitam's Kiran too hangs around Chandni alias Tara and tries to convince her to marry with him. At last Raj transfers all his money and property in the name of Chandni to prove his credentials of a good lover and thus assures her of a secured future in case he divorces her later. Chandni gets ready to marry with Raj. Both get married and come to a big town. But here the movie takes the turn. Kiran changes his thinking and realizes that his concept about the women is totally wrong. Tara shows her true color. She is not the village girl; she is rather one of his victims. Thus, the life becomes miserable for Kiran.

In the first half the movie moves smoothly but after the interval it moves very slowly. Director Parto Ghosh has put all efforts to ensure that the audience sits until the movie ends, but in vain. Nikhil-Vinay's music looks fresh inasmuch as most of its songs are shot in Dubai. However, it doesn't stand anywhere close to the music of the two giants being exhibited this week.

Tara has once again proved a plus point for the movie. She has put her all efforts to prove her presence. Kiran has also done the marvelous job. But the villain of 'Sitam' (Kamal) has become a sitam for the movie indeed! He has done a lot of overacting. Hassan Khan's cinematography has also failed to attract the audience.
On the whole, if look at 'Sitam' as a small budget movie for small towns then it is okay but if we compare the movie with big competitors like 'Taj Mahal' and 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' then it is sitam on Parto Ghosh.

Tara Sharma says, "I have played a double role of a village as well as an urban girl. However, there is nothing in 'Sitam' that I am ashamed of. I don't believe in exposure. I am interested only in movies that will enhance my image of an actress. Yes, I have worn modern dress but to look an urbanite. That's all."

Kiran Janjani (Hero) says, "Sitam' is a combination of drama, comedy and thriller. This is a family entertainer. I play Raj who changes girls like clothes. Raj falls in love with Chandni. But on the first night of marriage he finds that Chandni is not the kind of girl he thought she was. He considers the marriage a disaster. When asked if he sees the script before signing it, Kiran says, "The script should suit my personality. But sometimes some directors can make a marvelous film with any script. I want to work with some of these directors." Didn't he feel inferiority complex while working with 'Page 3' hit Tara Sharma? "No, definitely not.

Tara Sharma had worked very well in 'Page 3'. In the film industry, all stars get both hit as well as flop films during their career. So, hits or flops matter little for a star like me. As we only have to play our role." Did you want to be a film star? Kiran denies it and adds. "I was working as a waiter when a Bollywood director offered me to work in his film. I never thought that I would be acting some day. It is my destiny which has brought me here." But you are flirting in this movie. How similar is this role to your real life? "In my real life, I am a very disciplined person. I am married and can never think of flirting. I have left drinking and smoking. I don't go to late night parties. I spend my idle time with my family.

During the chat with director, Parto Ghosh says , " This movie has very interesting storyline. The audiences will not know till the end what is going to happen. The music is good and was shot in Dubai." Regarding his expectations in the wake of the two competitors-- 'Taj Mahal' and 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena', he confesses, "That's true. The two big movies are releasing along with 'Sitam'. Still, I am very much confident about its success. We have done a lot of publicity, and the movie's content is good. I am sure when the audience comes to see the movie, they will bring others along.
