MASTI UNLIMITED 'CARRY ON' IN 'NO ENTRY'

Beaches, sarongs, bikinis, hip-shaking hip-hop music and foreign locations are clubbed in one hotshot frolicking adventure - 'No Entry'. Bollywood seems to be succumbing to new charm of fun-filled hilarious comedy after some unsuccessful skin flick ventures. Indra Kumar's 'Masti' set the trend and it was followed with yet another fun-loving film 'Kya Kool Hai Hum'. The unlimited "Masti" is carried on with the new set of established stars in Boney Kapoor's 'No Entry'. Bengali bombshell Bipasha Basu knocks out three handsome hunks (Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Fardeen Khan) off the floor with her seductive luscious moves and lascivious charms. After playing venomous seductress in 'Jism' and rain-drenched beloved in 'Barsaat', Bipasha displays her physical charms once again.

Besides Bipasha, there are bevies of beauties that will pump up the adrenaline and make things merrier. Lara Dutta, Esha Deol and Celina Jaitley are the feminine strengths that add up to the entertainment content. Lara Dutta takes break from her usually dare bare glam doll image and transforms into the "sati-savitri" attire. After ferocious and cunning wife in 'Jurm', she impresses as suspicious wife. Lara shows that she can be trusted and tried in emoting hilarious sequences. Celina Jaitley sizzles up once again in revealing costumes and hip-shaking stuff body show with Fardeen Khan. Esha Deol is the only black sheep who gets raw deal among the lot and is sidelined as trusted wife.

Comedies have been rage in last few years with hits like 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya', 'Hulchul' and 'Masti'. 'No Entry' strikes chord with 'Masti' in terms of the formulation of the concept. The climax and treatment is different with the music taking backseat. It's like ornamenting 'Masti' with the spice of David Dhawan and giving it Hollywood's 'Carry On' series treatment. Luckily, packaging is brilliant with plethora of hilarious sequences, sizzling dances and exotic locations. It edges over 'Masti' in performances with all the players doing the needful. 'No Entry' stands out as an example of well-conceived multi-starrer of the year after average grosser 'Dus'.

David Dhawan and Priyadarshan have been pioneering the comical flick but Anees Bazmee surprises this time. The fun-frolicking entertainer looks like a winner at the end of the day. Despite its heavy weight commercial contents it faces competition in multiplexes from the cloudburst of "thought provoking" and "innovative" cinema ('Iqbal' and 'Bhaggmati'). 'Bhaggmati' is a giant leap in the segment of animated cinema as it makes its mark as the first and longest animated film of the world. 'Iqbal' brings out the struggles and aspirations of physically challenged boy in the backdrop of country's most loved sport - Cricket.

'No Entry' enters the marquee as another roller coaster fun ride filled with witty humor. Forbidden sex or love and sex outside marriage seem to be the new triumph card of the tinsel town with A-list actors teaming up for this bumpy ride. 'Masti' ended the drought for Indra Kumar and 'Kya Kool Hai Hum' wrote the first success for TV baron Ekta Kapoor. 'No Entry' works on similar guidelines with Bipasha getting into the skin of character of Lara in 'Masti' by playing sexy temptress "Bobby". This time Lara gets into the act of suspicious wife with Esha Deol joining as another dutiful wife married to Salman Khan.

After frivolous caricature in 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya', Salman Khan fires his machismo with a bundle of laughter. Anil Kapoor is enjoying his success streak after critically acclaimed 'My Wife's Murder' and returns to his conventional style. After playing "mind of harassed husband" ('My Wife's Murder') he gets into the skin of "mind of married bachelor". The wretched and bearded looks are out and clean-shaven romantic guy is back on screen. The aging star shows promise but is lacking charisma against younger actors. Fardeen Khan had rough time but he is accommodated in proportion along with these two saleable actors. Fardeen comes out with his best performance and it shows in his improvised acting skills. He coordinates well with Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan in the closing stages of the film. After row of flops and semi-hits, Fardeen can expect wonders from this comical flick. Boman Irani is wasted completely with half-baked characterizations. Boman impresses in brief yet useless role and one expects he gets better treatment from the filmmaker in the future.

'No Entry' is about three fun-loving guys - Kishan (Anil Kapoor), Prem (Salman Khan) and Sunny (Fardeen Khan). Kishan is happily married to Kaajal (Lara Dutta). Despite enjoying happy matrimony Kaajal is always suspicious on her husband's moves. Prem (Salman Khan) is in wedlock with Pooja (Esha Deol) and unlike Kaajal she is more trusting and caring. Kishan is editor of a reputed daily newspaper and coordinated well with crime reporter Sunny (Fardeen Khan). In hot pursuit of getting sensational news for the paper they expose the philandering activity of corrupt politician V.K Gupta (Boman Irani). After being applauded for this success, Sunny tries to write a story on suicides during which he encounters cherubic Sanjana (Celina Jaitley). Their confrontation culminates into love, and the marriage is on cards for him. Life takes topsy-turvy turns as sexy seductress Bobby (Bipasha Basu) enters their lives. Trouble aggravates when Prem encourages Kishan to taste the fruit of forbidden love in the form of Bobby. The invasion of Bobby into the married life of Kishan creates chaos and bedlam. Kishan deceives Kaajal into believing that Bobby is Sunny's wife, and Sunny tricks Sanjana that Bobby is Kishan's wife. It was Prem who encourages Kishan into philandering act but that creates problem for Kishan and Sunny. Prem rescues Sunny and Kishan but gets trapped as his own wife Pooja loses faith in him. Things settle down as all three decide to be faithful husbands to their loving wives.

Boney Kapoor's 'No Entry' brings out new colors and dimensions of writer-director Anees Bazmee. Bazmee's last ventures - 'Hulchul' (action), 'Pyar To Hona Hi Tha' (romance) and 'Deewangi' (drama) were a breed apart. 'No Entry' works on David Dhawan's style of slick slapstick comedy that dominated 90's. Even Anu Malik has the flavor of David Dhawan-Govinda starrer with songs like "Dil Paagal Hai" and "Kahan Ho Tum". Cinematography by Ashok Mehta is splendid and breathtaking at many places. The exotic locations of Mauritius and South Africa are shot brilliantly.

The song "Main Akela" (Salman's introductory sequence) has been well choreographed on landscaped exotic beach locations. Dialogues are witty, humorous and hilarious that form pivotal part of the show. The story has some loose ends but they need to be forgotten while viewing slapstick comedies. After nurturing action ('Hulchul'), romance ('Pyar To Hona Hi Tha') and drama ('Deeewangi'), Bazmee has shifted his territory to slapstick comedy. Director and writer Anees Bazmee has churned out his finest product since he shifted his territory. The falling collections of 'Mangal Pandey' and average response to 'Barsaat' will benefit 'No Entry' in a big way. 'No Entry' stands out as the frontrunner among commercial entertainers this week and looks winner all the way. Have "Masti" and enter into 'No Entry' zone of fun and laughter.
