'Time Pass' produced by Anil Sharma and directed by Chander Mishra may remind many cinegoers of 'Bobby' made three decades ago. It was a love story between two teenaged school going children. Though 'Time Pass' is also a love story, but unlike 'Bobby' the main two characters in 'Time Pass' are college going boy and girl. There is another difference; while ' Bobby' was made in picturesque Goa, ' Time Pass' has been shot entirely in Mumbai metropolis. But credit must be given to the director of 'Time Pass' for presentation of the story in different colour, and never allowing the viewers to feel bored.
The story is about Vishal, a college student, and Jenny. He is fascinated by Jenny. She is the younger daughter of family friend of Vishal's parents. The two families despite their different socio - economic backgrounds remain friends and helpful to each other. Vishal belongs to the Hindu community, and Jenny is an Indian Christian by birth. Vishal on the pretext of learning dance, started going to Jenny' s place. She teaches him how to dance.

It is Jenny' s body in which he is more interested than in learning the dance. But he cannot gather courage to make love to her. He tells his friends about his predicament. They agree to help Vishal. A middle-aged married man also agrees to help him by providing accommodation to Vishal and Jenny so that they can enjoy themselves. But Vishal and Jenny are not are aware of their ulterior motive. All of them are after her body. Her innocence and frankness are misinterpreted. One day when the metropolis is

One has to sit through the entire low budget movie to see how Vishal frustrates evil designs of his so called well-wishers and help her reach home hale and hearty soon after the sunrise. After experiences and trauma, they understand and love each other. It is indeed a very good movie made in Bollywood with lesser known but talented actor and actress in the lead roles. Arjun Puri has given an excellent performance as Vishal.

Mona Chopra' s acting and exposure are also worth mentioning. She has a pictureseque body and may emerge as a serious rival to Pakistani beauty Meera who has made her debut in 'Nazar' produced by noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Mona Chopra has no inhibition in exposing herself to the delight of the moviegoers. She may not be interested in as much exposure as needed for portraying a character on the screen. It will be no surprise if she is flooded with more offers from producers after 'Time Pass'.
Himani Shivpuri, Adi Irani, Sikandar Kharbanda, Rufi Khan, Prabhu, Monika Patel, Karan Rohira, Tausif Khan, Tanaz Irani, Pushpa Verma, Rafi Khan and Lolly Pop ably support Arjun Punj and Mona.

Cinematographer Damodar Menon should be complimented not only for displaying Mona's bustling and curves on the big screen but also for some other scenes shot in the rain. Lyrics and music by Suneel Jha is another attraction of the movie. Playback singers are Udit Narayan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawalla, Vinod Rathod, Shreya Ghosal, Sadhana Sargam and Sonu Kakkar. They have done their jobs well.

The movie also exposes ignorance and misconception of the Hindu and Muslim communities about their ways of life. They live in the same locality, but have no confidence in each other. This may be the subtle message conveyed to the people by filmmaker Anil Sharma who is becoming a banner to be reckoned with in the Hindi film world.
Shewta International's 'Time Pass' is another example of how good movie can be made with low budget and minus so-called big stars dominating Bollywood and forcing the producers to dance to their tunes
