The Cricket fever is over and the indefinite strike called by single screen theatre owners in Mumbai has also ended. After the heartbreaking defeat in Lahore test by 9 wickets, people want to elevate their mood and the weekend is freer than usual because Good Friday as a holiday. Since summer has set in the people find it difficult to go out for fun and picnic. So, the best bet is to watch the new comedy on the block 'Masti' directed by none other than Indra Kumar who has super hits like 'Dil', 'Beta', 'Raja' and 'Ishq' to his credit.
Despite this hea has not made a hit for many years. His last film , but he has moved on from there. In his new film, 'Masti', he has tried to work on the formulae of trinity that has worked wonders for many filmmakers in the past and Indra Kumar too succeeds in making an entertainer with the help of Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi. If Indra Kumar made a good comedy in 'Ishq', this time he is even better in 'Masti' originally titled 'Khujli' and talked about being a takeoff on Hollywood flick'Seven Year Itch'. The difference between 'Ishq' and 'Masti' lies in the fact that the latter is a comedy of today's age where vulgar dialogues have become fashion of the day.

Indra Kumar has emerged as a winner in 'Masti' after long. His last two films 'Mann' with Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala and 'Rishtey' with Anil Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor were major debacles of his time. Distributors lost faith in Indra Kumar and he had to do some thing extraordinary to save his skin this time around. So he chose a subject that has become the in thing in Bollywood, adultery. There have been too many films in the recent past dealing with the subject. But while films like 'Hawas' and 'Murder' have their adequate share of skin show, 'Masti' deals the same delicate issue with fun.

There are enough doses of sex and vulgarity in this film too but here it is not on screen but in words. The dialogues have plenty of obscene wordage to make you feel awkward if you are watching the film with informal friends. So check out about the likings of your friends before you head for this laugh riot. Technically 'Masti' is a good film. Mazhar Kamran's cinematography has succeeded in catching the moods and menace of youth in the right frame. The songs filmed on lush locales have been caught brilliantly on celluloid. The plus point of the film is its screenplay by Milap Zaveri and Tushar Hiranandani. Both Milap and Tushar have caught the nuances of married life and dreams of young people very brilliantly to make 'Masti' a good film to watch.

The one-liners have punch and they hit the audience right from the word go. The dialogues written for Ajay Devgan are the best. Anand Raj Anand has once again come up with peppy music. Songs like 'Ek Kunwara' are already hit and will certainly make the film's prospects bright at the box office. Among actors Aftab Shivdasani impresses most. After giving many write offs, he has come up with a brilliant performance in Masti'. Ritesh is learning his lessons fast but it is Vivek Oberoi who fails to leave any impression. Among women artists, Genelia is the best.

Amrita Rao and Tara Sharma fight for the second place. Ajay Devgan in a special appearance has done his job brilliantly, he has worked with Indra Kumar in 'Ishq' in the past and with 'Masti' the relation and chemistry between the director and the actor seems to have flourished. And the last but not the least is Satish Shah who does a Kanataben in 'Masti'. Rakhi Sawant is sensuous and titillates whenever she comes on scre; she is on the verge of becoming next Helen of Bollywood. On the whole, 'Masti' is all set to make its distributors happy and the film has a universal appeal, both in metros as well as in rural areas.
