MUSIC REVIEW OF DE TAALI

Since 'De Taali' is a comedy and its cast comprises youngsters, the movie's music director duo Vishal-Bhardwaj has provided the music while keeping these in mind. Besides, the duo has taken due care of their failure in satisfying the audience of their recently released movies like 'Tashan' and 'Bhoothnath' and tried their level best to recreate the magic of their earlier movies like 'Om Shanti Om', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Golmaal' etc. While listening to the 'De Taali' music we find that it's a blend of comedy, romance and masti. After all, its cast comprising Ritiesh Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Ayesha Takia and Rimi Sen wouldn't have moved ahead unless they come across comic notes now and then. Yes, this has been possible because of the positive contribution of its lyricist Abbas Tyrewala. The album has six songs but they are all different from each other as far as their composition, sound, rhythm and music is concerned. The music of he movie is on T-Series.

The album opens with 'Everybody puts your hands together'. This is a peppy song and is sung by three singers - -Sunidhi Chauhan, Anushka Manchanda and Shaan. It's a perfect club number and one has to hold one's feet from grooving with the number.

The second song 'Aaj Mein Boondh Hoon' is romantic and crooned by Shreya Ghosal and Shekhar Ravijani. Its lyrics are penned by Vishal Dadlani. Thus, Shekhar Radian's sensuous lyrics sung by Shreya Ghosal will take its listeners to the world of romance and love. Hopefully, it may turn into a chartbuster.

The third song 'Hone Lagi' is another soft number that is sung by fast pace singer Anuksha Manchanda and Shekhar Ravjiani. This time Anuksha goes slow, perhaps as an experiment, to win the hearts of the audience with her soft and sweet voice.

The fourth song, 'Maari Teetri', is from Rajasthan. Interestingly, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa runner up, Raja Hasan, who is also known as a folk song signer, has lent his voice to this kind of a folk song. Both the music director and the singer deserve gratitude for this.

'Tooti Phooti' is the fifth song. This is a new, refreshing and possibly the driving force of the film. Luckily, Shaan, KK and Sunidhi Chauhan have lent their voices to this song.

Lastly, De Taali is the title song of the film. Though this is full of funny rhythmic lines like "Tu meri life ki shinning hai, winning hai, dinning hai, woh kaali badal to, tu silver lining hai, the song falls short of essentials for a title track. Incidentally, its lyrics are provided by Abbas Tyrewala, and it has been crooned by Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan.

'De Taali' will be known more for its experimental music as with this film Vishal turns a lyricist and Shekhar a singer. Otherwise, it falls in the average category. We wish the movie proves better than its music so that its collections do better.
