Maoists must be pressurised for talks with gov
June 29, 2012
New Delhi, June 29 (ANI): Negotiations with Maoists could only be conducted through discussions and that is how the ultras could be pressurized to surrender their weapons and sit for talks, said former Home Secretary of India, GK Pillai. Addressing a seminar on the topic ‘state’s response to hostage situations’, Pillai said that the current plan of action imposed by the government to tackle the Maoist menace was taking shape but it would take another two years to reach the roots of the problem. Commenting on the recent hostage crisis, with Maoists kidnapping two Italian tourists and government officials, Pillai said that the government should develop a hostage policy, which is lacking at the moment, to deal with such threats.
