JAYA SEAL LOVES FILMS, BUT ACTS IN TV

Jaya Seal is a TV artiste-turned-actress. She shot to fame through her role of Parvati, a typical bahu in an Indian family in Ekta Kapoor's TV serial ' Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki'. Besides, she has done 15 feature films in seven languages, including Hindi. Her 'Uttara', a Bengali movie, was her debut, which got favorable reviews. But her Hindi movies, one after another, like 'Chal', 'Excuse Me' and 'Desh Premee', did not bring her success at the box office. She blames her bad luck for these flops though. But she is not disheartened yet, and wants to do a lot more in Hindi movies. Since she hails from Assam, her Hindi is faulty, she admits. Had she a better command over Hindi language, her performance would have certainly been more applauded by the audience. She is well versed in acting, as she happens to be a graduate from National School of Drama.
She has made up her mind not to do serials any more. She would do films though otherwise she would go back to dancing. But she is optimistic, and claims that she gets offers for lead and second lead roles. Buy alas; she has no dates to spare from her tele serial ' Kahani….' She is awaiting roles from her pet directors like aparna Sen and Rituparno Ghosh. She regrets that she has no chance to do films like 'Chasme Baddoor' and 'Golmaal'.
