HUSBAND SWAPPING IS NO FUN!
By Our Staff
Bollywood is known to be the looking glass of the society. Yes, but this is not so now, if we look at today's Hindi movies. In fact, the tinsel world has turned itself into a moneymaking machine for filmmakers. They give more attention to showing heroines in the barest of clothes with the maximum of body and skin exposure. With a view to attracting the inquisitive crowds to theatres. In the same trend perhaps, director Sanjay S. Zaveri has come up with his project 'Fun - Can Be Dangerous Sometimes' where husband swapping is the main story. Although the wives do husband swapping only for fun, but this leads to a dangerous situation. The director says it can be dangerous sometimes, but we wonder if it is not always dangerous.
The title of the film shows how even a fun can become a problem in life. The story is based on high-class married women swapping their husbands as a matter of fun and how they plan it. But this fun turns dangerous for them. Natasha (Payal Rohatagi), Phalguni and Urmila are fun loving married women. They strongly believe that one lives only once and should therefore fully enjoy life. However, Phalguni and Urmila have major problems with their husbands as they have become indifferent to their wives' sexual needs and have no time for them.
Natasha says that she has no problem with her husband Aryan (Sidharth Koirala) because she always gives him surprises. She gives them tips how to seduce husbands. Other wives try but are disappointed when they realize that their plans have failed. To cheer them up, Natasha invites them to a friend's party to watch male striptease. The police raid the premises and this really alarms them. The girl wants to have fun but there is risk involved. So, Natasha suggests swapping of husbands. This shocks them in the beginning.
But later they agree when Natasha explains to them how it should be done. They reach a resort with their husbands to have a vacation for a weekend to celebrate the New Year night. They arrange a lucky draw to decide who would be paired with whom. Natasha is left with her husband Aryan only. Phalguni and Urmila put in their best efforts to seduce each other's husbands and finally succeed too.
During their stay in the resort, the group comes across a young pretty girl called Megha. Aryan feels attracted towards Megha and becomes friendly with her. In a very subtle way, Natasha encourages their relationship and pretends as if she doesn't mind it. Then Megha's wealthy husband Raj enters the scene. Aryan is surprised when he learns that Megha is a married woman.
He also comes to know that Megha and Raj have a strained relationship. On the eve of New Year night, Raj goes back to his office and promises Megha that he would return soon. While the New Year party is in full swing, Phalguni and Urmila, who have exchanged their husbands, are all set to go to bed with them. But then a scream is heard, and to everyone's shock, Megha's body is found near the swimming pool.
There is chaos in the hotel and at the last moment, Phalguni and Urmila realize the blunder they were about to commit by exchanging their husbands. They regret their decision about swapping and feel guilty. But who killed Megha, what was the motive behind it is a mystery though later solved.
Avinash Kashid, Surendra Bhatia and Sudhir Kumar have produced this film. The director is Sanjay S. Zaveri. The music is by Sanjeev-Darshan. It looks that the director has not given his full attention to the film. The story is similar to that of 'Muskaan', and the audience has seen such types of stories many times. The film is a thriller, and a thriller cannot fasten the audience to their seats for the full time of the film. In fact, this is another film in the genre of bold films. That's all.
Among the cast, Sidharth Koirala, the younger brother of the famous actress Manisha Koirala, is the main character in the film. This is his debut film, and he has done a good job. He looks something like his sister, and may have a bright future. Payal Rohatgi, the 'Tauba-Tauba girl, is seen in many shades. She plays a very bold character as she has done in her last film 'Tauba Tauba'. Aryan Vaid enters in the middle of the film and refreshes it. He is playing a negative character though, but his acting is natural. Rajat Bedi has played a small role of an inspector, but very well.
