B’desh to honour Indian Army officer

New Delhi, July 05 (ANI): Colonel (Retd) Ashok Tara, who rescued the family of Bangabandhu from Confinement during the 1971 Liberation will be given the Friends of Bangladesh Award. Tara, then a major of Indian Army, risked his life and freed Bangabandhu’s wife Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, his daughters Hasina and Rehana, and his youngest son Seikh Russel on 17 December. The decision to confer award to Col. Tara (retd) was decided on June 25 cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. But, Colonal Tara, who bravely saved the VIPs, is overwhelmed about visiting Dhaka again to receive the award after 40 years of the Liberation War.
