Now that Reteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'souza are married, 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya' seems almost to be a tribute to these two lead actors/characters of the movie. The reel pair turned real life couple were very close friends. Their chemistry in the movie isn't a surprise, but what stands out beautifully is that their performance on screen remains unaffected!
The movie starts with Mr Bhatti played by Tinu Anand ready to get his daughter Mini played by Genelia D'souza wedded to a rich spoiled brat! Bhatti has a business renting autos. Viren played by Reteish Deshmukh drives a rented auto, but dreams of starting his own taxi service. Viren discloses this plan to Bhatti who immediately sells autos and buys four Innovas. In one of those sold autos, Viren loses his hard-earned savings of Rs 60,000 that he had kept under the driver's seat. A frustrated Viren visits Bhatti's home with a gun in hand.
Mini is being engaged against her wishes. An opportunist Mini forces Viren to kidnap her! Viren and Mini now carry a bounty and are wanted. The twist is they are now actually kidnapped. They land up in Viren's ancestral home and Mini meets his parents. Genelia is happy with them and quickly adapts herself to the village environment. The village is plentiful of body builders, and Genelia starts coaching aerobics! She falls in love with simpleton Riteish.
There's nothing unusual or unique about the story as such. What most critics feel is that in terms of acting, both lead actors demonstrate a chemistry that reaches its zenith. Mandeep Kumar has deftly directed and handled the story and screenplay. The cast deserves kudos. Reteish's comic timing is impeccable. Genelia's smile is unforgettable and she delivers a skilled performance. Om Puri charms the audience by his sheer funny acts. Veena Malik's item number is a kind of bonus.
Overall, the movie is a tribute to Bollywood's latest couple - Reteish and Genelia. Cheers!
