‘Qasam Se Qasam Se’ is one among the three Bollywood movies to release June 15, 2012. The other two are indeed bigger in respect of cast and content - ‘Farrari Ki Sawaari’ and ‘Chakradhar’. ‘Qasam Se Qasam Se’ is of the romance genre with an abundance of dance and songs and ample violence and marks the debut for Azim and Faith. Filmmakers made the right choice of deferring its earlier May release as Yash Raj Films pre-poned 'Ishqzaade'. ‘Qasam Se Qasam Se’, say filmmakers, was shaped after a series of vigorous surveys, talking to today’s youngsters about love and life. Nazim Rizvi, one of the producers of the controversial film ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’, launches his son Azmi in the film with a debutant director Ashfaque Makrani.
Two students - Azim and Faith - fall for each other and earn the envy of a boastful student who is a son of a senior police officer. Azim is made to suffer the torture of police because Faith refuses to marry the cop’s son. Interestingly, it is an intense love story wherein uncle played by Satish Kaushik harbors the lovers as Faith’s parents refuse to let her marry Azim. Maamu Satish is a favorite of college-goers. The villainous boy in the love triangle injects Faith with HIV virus. Azim proves his love marrying Faith despite her becoming HIV positive and the fear of death. Faith dies in the arms of Azim. The grim episode finally brings the two warring families together who only then learn of the pious love between the youngsters. Rakhi Sawant plays a bold role of a woman sex education teacher in college born and brought up overseas.
The movie is more of a lesson of love and against hatred. But, it lacks a cohesive story and screenplay. Teenagers might want to just check it out, so to say, for its melodrama, lots of college life sequences, songs and dances. But the end is far too tragic and jarring. Newcomers perform well. Faith is very pretty; one is not too sure of her Bollywood future though. Satish Kaushik shoulders the movie throughout with his performance; his clichéd dialogues can be irritating at times.
The movie is but a launch pad by a filmmaker for his son!
